Katy Nelson President/CEO of the Topeka Area Building Association. I am a Wife, Mother of 4, Grandma to 5. I like to be with my family and friends when not at work. You can find me on a river with friends or traveling to a ballpark with my husband when not at work most of the time.
I am all about Community and making Topeka the best it can be. I like to help other non-profits succeed in making Topeka a better place for everyone. Workforce development is a big part of what I strive for through my work and finding jobs for locals within the trades is a top priority for me. The building industry is another option A for everyone.
Michael Brumleve is co-owner of Michael’s Resurfacing LLC with his wife Karen Brumleve. They are leaders in providing quality and professional residential and commercial kitchen, bathroom, and concrete resurfacing in all of Northeast Kansas. Michael’s 20 years of refinishing have been built on customer trust and delivering quality work.
Michael is a member of the Topeka Area Building Association as an Associate Member and served as chair of the Associate Member Council. He continued serving the Topeka Area Building Association in leadership as the 2024 Chairman of the Board.
Through leadership he has become an advocate for the principles and high standards of the building industry and will continue to do so into the future
Patrick and his family moved to Topeka in November of 2014 from Olathe Kansas. Formerly the Director of Information Technology, Project and Program Management at Sprint in Overland Park, he and his wife Kristi were ready to make a career change to pursue owning their own business. In March of 2015 they completed the purchase of the Budget Blinds franchises in Topeka and Manhattan. Budget Blinds is a retailer of custom window coverings, including draperies, shade, blinds, shutters, and exterior solar screen products. Since then, they have enjoyed becoming a part of the Topeka community, and in particular the building industry community of building industry trades and associated businesses.
As Chairman of the Associates Member Council, Josh collaborates with industry leaders to drive innovation in the home-building sector, drawing on his leadership and teamwork abilities. He is also the founder and owner of KanView Glass, where he has built a reputation for quality and expertise for over 10 years.
Josh has dedicated 19 years to military service in the Air National Guard, currently serving as a Maintenance Operations Center Controller. He has completed four Middle East deployments as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom Sentinel, and Operation Inherent Resolve (ISIS). Josh remains active in his military role and is committed to furthering his leadership skills and professional development.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys traveling, hiking, and scuba diving. He also cherishes spending time with his son through outdoor activities like fishing and kayaking.
Amanda is the General Manager at Chavez Inc., a small family-owned business in their 57th year serving Topeka and surrounding NE Kansas. Amanda was born and raised in Topeka, graduating from Shawnee Heights and later Pittsburg State University with a degree in Public Relations. Soon after graduation, she moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she spent three seasons working for the San Antonio Spurs NBA team. Her sales and service career continued working for the University of Texas at Austin and UT Health Science Center before moving back to Kansas. Upon moving home, she joined the family business as General Manager where she and her brother have been working closely with their father as they transition into the 3rd generation of ownership. Like most small business owners, Amanda wears many hats including Sales & Marketing, and HR. She enjoys interacting with clients and the dedicated staff at Chavez. Amanda serves on the Riverfront Advisory Council and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board for the Greater Topeka Partnership. She is also on the Board of Directors for the Topeka Facility Managers Association and Topeka Home Builder's Association.
Terry Robinson, President of Robinson Building Corp. has been involved in building business in North East Kansas since 1984. A lifelong Topeka area native, Terry is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School and Washburn University. Terry worked in his father’s masonry business before becoming a general contractor and incorporating Robinson Building Corp. in 1995. Robinson Building Corp. has completed projects in Manhattan, Wamego, Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City Kansas in it's 30 year plus existence. Terry is currently active as a Realtor with Foundation Realty and continues to build custom and speculative homes in NE Kansas. He has also served as the president of the Kansas Building Industry Association, State Representative for NAHB to Kansas and now serves on the Shawnee County Planning Board. Terry and Christie, his wife of 47 years, have three adult children and six grandchildren. He is a passionate Kansas State athletics and Chiefs fan who loves to spend time with his family and playing golf.
I'm married to Bobbi Smith and we have five children between us. We have nine grandchildren, one passed away from cancer. Grandchildren are the best.
I've been in the flooring business for39 years. I've been at Carpet One Topeka for 17 years as Division Manager for our company (Cap Carpet Inc). We are the 25th largest flooring company in the U.S. Our Corporate headquarters is in Wichita.
I've been on the Board of Directors with the Topeka Area Building Association for 17 years, and served as Chairman of the Board twice, in 2016 and 2023. The Home Builders Association, locally and nationally, is something that's always been important to me because it's something I felt I could help make a difference in our community by being involved.
I am also involved in the Topeka South Rotary Club, which I find very rewarding with the service work the club does n the community and for me personally their involvement in Let's Help and out support of a Clinic in Guatemala that I was fortunate enough to travel to and work with the local people in 2023 and looking forward to more trips there.
I am a navy veteran. I served from 1969 through 1973. I was stationed abroad the USS Canopus (Submarine repair ship) in the Holy Loch of Scotland for three years working as a nuke welder on piping systems through out the subs including reactor compartment.
I attended Washburn in the mid 70's for about a year and a half with the help of my GI bill.
I worked a variety of jobs when I got out of the Navy including a welder at a local machine shop and Allis Chalmers Tractors. I worked as a carpenter framer and having my own framing crew building for others and I also had a small remodeling business for awhile. I tried driving trucks (semi tractor trailers) I worked in the furniture business for awhile before finally getting involved in the flooring industry.

Melissa Coburn is the CEO and President of Squeegee Squad Kansas Central. Her career started at the largest utility in Kansas where she spent 14 years in the IT Department. She is a Washburn graduate and was most recently an IT Manager for an Application Development team that supported their Power Marketing team. She is known for her role leading the first centralized Production Support team and as a champion for the transition to the adoption of the Agile methodology.
She and her husband jumped into Entrepreneurship in 2019 when they purchased "the best Car Wash in Topeka". They are members of the Topeka Facility Management Association, Topeka Area Builders Association, Professional Women in Building, and have served on many other local Boards and Community Volunteer groups. Both left the utility Company to start up and manage the day-to-day activities for their Woman Owned window cleaning and pressure washing business that services Manhattan, Topeka, and Lawrence and KC Metro.
I am a Franchise owner for Squeegee Squad, that is responsible for client and talent acquisition, culture development, brand building and training. We are a locally owned franchise that operates in a territory from Lawrence to Manhattan Kansas along with the Greater Des Moines Iowa area . We offer residential, commercial, and high rise window cleaning, window restoration, construction cleans, power washing, gutter cleaning, and holiday light installation.
I am an active member in civic organizations and believe that our rewards in life will be in exact proportion to our contributions.
I am an Interior Designer at Carpet One Topeka. I absolutely love what I do and the people that I get to work with, but I love being a mom to my sweet little boy even more! Building relationships is something that is important to me and I try to do that in every aspect of my professional and personal life.
I graduated for Santa Fe Trail high school and have been in the remodeling industry for 33 years. For the last 6 years have been co-owner of Garner Remodeling. On my time off I enjoy Hunting and Fishing and Golfing and traveling with family and friends. I have been married for a LONG time to my wife Trisha and have 2 sons, and 2 daughters-in-law , and 4 grandchildren.
My name is Ruben Soriano-Delgadillo, I am the project manager for IPG Building Co. On my time off from work I enjoy spending time with my Wife and two dogs. My Wife and I have enjoyed our journey getting closer to God over the last year. Family has always played a major role in life, and we’ve learned over the years that sharing blood doesn’t make you family. Rather those friendships that are strengthened over time and show their utmost respect, and trustworthiness. We never have a dull moment in our home filled with love, integrity, and respect.
