Katy Nelson President/CEO of the Topeka Area Building Association. I am a Wife, Mother of 4, Grandma to 5. I like to be with my family and friends when not at work. You can find me on a river with friends or traveling to a ballpark with my husband when not at work most of the time.
I am all about Community and making Topeka the best it can be. I like to help other non-profits succeed in making Topeka a better place for everyone. Workforce development is a big part of what I strive for through my work and finding jobs for locals within the trades is a top priority for me. The building industry is another option A for everyone.
I graduated for Santa Fe Trail high school and have been in the remodeling industry for 33 years. For the last 6 years have been co-owner of Garner Remodeling. On my time off I enjoy Hunting and Fishing and Golfing and traveling with family and friends. I have been married for a LONG time to my wife Trisha and have 2 sons, and 2 daughters-in-law , and 4 grandchildren.
Terry is a life-long resident of Topeka, KS. He attended local schools and graduated from Topeka High School in 1984. He graduated from Washburn University with a degree in Public Administration in 1996 and then graduated from the Graduate Schools of Banking at Colorado in 2003. Terry began his banking career in 1988 working for Capitol Federal Savings where he worked for 8 years. In 1996, he worked for Columbian Bank and Trust for 4 years as a Commercial Loan Officer. In February 2000, he began working for the FHLBank Topeka where her worked for approximately 13 years as a Lending Officer and Regional Account Manager. In August 2012, Terry accepted the role as President of GNBank’s Mortgage Division in Horton, KS where he worked for 9 years and in September 2021 he accepted the VP of Mortgage Services position at Envista Credit Union, which he currently holds today
Terry has been active serving on numerous boards and committees (Topeka Area Builders Association, Parks for All Foundation Board, Meals on Wheels, Safe Streets, Stormont Vail Foundation, Boys and Girls Club, Topeka Shawnee County First Opportunity Fund and the Go Topeka Foundation Board, FHLBank MPF Advisory Council, Kansas Bankers Associations HR, Education and Bank Management committees, the Housing and Community Development Task force, the Race Against Cancer Board, he served as an Advisor to the Covenant of Shalom (COS) Board, he’s a 1999 graduate of Leadership Greater Topeka, a 2019 graduate of the KBA’s Bank Leaders of Kansas (BLOK) program and he previously served on the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) Emerging Leaders Council.
Terry has been married to his wife Cindy for 35 years, they have one son (Tyler) currently residing in Scottsdale Arizona. Terry enjoys being active in his community, watching collegiate sports, attending car shows and golfing in his spare time.
Patrick and his family moved to Topeka in November of 2014 from Olathe Kansas. Formerly the Director of Information Technology, Project and Program Management at Sprint in Overland Park, he and his wife Kristi were ready to make a career change to pursue owning their own business. In March of 2015 they completed the purchase of the Budget Blinds franchises in Topeka and Manhattan. Budget Blinds is a retailer of custom window coverings, including draperies, shade, blinds, shutters, and exterior solar screen products. Since then, they have enjoyed becoming a part of the Topeka community, and in particular the building industry community of building industry trades and associated businesses.

Terry Robinson, President of Robinson Building Corp. has been involved in building business in North East Kansas since 1984. A lifelong Topeka area native, Terry is a graduate of Washburn Rural High School and Washburn University. Terry worked in his father’s masonry business before becoming a general contractor and incorporating Robinson Building Corp. in 1995. Robinson Building Corp. has completed projects in Manhattan, Wamego, Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City Kansas in it's 30 year plus existence. Terry is currently active as a Realtor with Foundation Realty and continues to build custom and speculative homes in NE Kansas. He has also served as the president of the Kansas Building Industry Association, State Representative for NAHB to Kansas and now serves on the Shawnee County Planning Board. Terry and Christie, his wife of 47 years, have three adult children and six grandchildren. He is a passionate Kansas State athletics and Chiefs fan who loves to spend time with his family and playing golf.

Based in Topeka, I’m proud to be part of the local builder community, working to enhance the homes and lives of our neighbors. When I’m not on a job site, I’m focused on growing my business, mastering my craft, and building strong relationships with clients and industry peers. Beyond construction, I’m deeply invested in the Topeka community. When I’m not on-site or meeting with clients, you can often find me supporting local events or spending quality time with my wife and our three amazing children. Family and community are at the heart of everything I do, and they inspire the personalized touch I bring to every project.I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Topeka Area Building Association and to be an active member of the Topeka Professional Remodelers Council, the National Home Builders Association and the National Association of the Remodelers Industry. These affiliations allow me to stay on top of the latest industry trends and best practices, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Emmanuel ‘Manny’ Herron is a native Kansan devoted to transforming
lives, helping others shift from victim to victor. A dynamic entrepreneur and
community advocate, Manny is a passionate follower of Jesus, a dedicated
husband, and a supportive father. His leadership has been forged through
overcoming significant challenges, and his drive is rooted in serving others,
advocating for his community, and developing those around him.
Manny taught himself to read at age 21 and became fluent in Spanish in just
seven months. Today, he is a real estate developer, the CEO of IPG
Building Co., and a partner in IPG Media Co., a media company dedicated
to "Amplifying Authentic Brands" for contractors and real estate
professionals.
As a committed community advocate, Manny actively serves in
organizations focused on improving the quality of life in Topeka. He is a
member of South Rotary and serves on the board of GO Topeka, which
drives county-wide economic success. Additionally, he is involved with the
Small Business Incentive Committee, serves as Chair of the Topeka
Land Bank, and sits on the board of the Topeka Area Building
Association.
Previously, Manny served on the housing committee for Community
Action, Inc., was a member of Kiwanis International, acted as Site
Coordinator for Sharefest Topeka, helped organize Project Forward,
and served as a Youth Pastor. In 2018, he was honored to speak at the
Kansas State Senate Prayer Breakfast and serve as Chaplain of the Day.
Even outside of formal roles, Manny is constantly investing in his
community and mentoring young adults. He is committed to walking
alongside the next generation, showing them that success is a choice—one
that is not limited by environment, circumstances, or past decisions. His
mission is to eliminate the poverty mindset, equipping those around him
with the tools and resources needed to create generational wealth.
Manny believes that the greatest way to show gratitude for life is to serve
and that "the way you do anything is the way you do everything." His
life is proof that transformation is possible, and his dedication to
empowering others makes him a true changemaker and leader worth knowing.
As Chairman of the Associates Member Council, Josh collaborates with industry leaders to drive innovation in the home-building sector, drawing on his leadership and teamwork abilities. He is also the founder and owner of KanView Glass, where he has built a reputation for quality and expertise for over 10 years.
Josh has dedicated 19 years to military service in the Air National Guard, currently serving as a Maintenance Operations Center Controller. He has completed four Middle East deployments as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom Sentinel, and Operation Inherent Resolve (ISIS). Josh remains active in his military role and is committed to furthering his leadership skills and professional development.
Outside of work, Josh enjoys traveling, hiking, and scuba diving. He also cherishes spending time with his son through outdoor activities like fishing and kayaking.
Amber Rendell is a Business Services Associate at Azura Credit Union. At Azura, Amber is committed to providing reliable service to business members. She goes “above and beyond” supporting Azura’s business lending team, members, and vendors. Amber administers business loan documentation and provides account services. She is passionate about the credit union movement’s motto “people helping people”. She actively supports different organizations throughout the community. Amber enjoys making new connections. Amber has been with Azura Credit Union for 2 years. Prior to that, she was employed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for 8 years. She started in the small business department and ended up in the senior sales department as a senior rep. Amber has served in sales and customer service since she started working at the age of 15. She currently resides in Scranton, Kansas, with her husband and son. In her free time, she enjoys playing softball all over the states and watching her nieces and nephews play too. She is active in her small community. She helps organize Scranton’s Trunk or Treat and Angel Tree softball tournament each year. Amber is passionate about helping people and seeing them succeed.

I have been married for a LONG time to my wife Trisha and have 2 sons, and 2 daughters-in-law , and 4 grandchildren.
Sierra has been a dedicated Office Assistant at PDQ Construction for over five years. She began her career as an intern in high school through the Topeka Area Building Association’s Student Chapter and transitioned into a full-time position after completing her internship. Sierra plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the office, known for her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Her contributions are crucial to the efficiency of the team. Outside of work, Sierra enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs and her bunny, embracing the joys of being a pet parent. Her love for animals, combined with her commitment to her work, makes her a well-rounded and valued member of both her professional and personal circles.
